The American collective conscience has come to conceive of Alaska as the most abundant and bountiful source of fresh, wild seafood in the country, and perhaps in the world. In fact, many of our supermarkets and restaurants-located thousands and thousands of miles away from Alaska, on the other side of the continent-offer Alaskan seafood in both its fresh and preserved forms on a regular basis, even though we may not be aware of it.
