England’s reputation with regards to food, like its weather, is not one of its strong points. While Italy’s pizzas and pasta dishes, Spain’s paella and Germany’s myriad types of sausages have traveled across the continent and the globe to be enjoyed by worldwide consumers, English meals – such as fish and chips, bangers and mash, and cucumber sandwiches – have mainly stayed at home. With cookery shows on television gaining popularity over the past few years, things have begun to change in the UK.
