If candy is left out in the open, especially around bored people in an office setting, it will eventually be eaten. It’s 4:30 and your eyes scan the dish again to see if maybe there were some more desirable sugary treats added since you last checked, but it’s the same few unwanted stragglers left there to die in sparse company.
