The planet’s oceans and its rivers are invaluable sources of food that help sustain the world’s population, providing it with foods of superior nutritional content and exquisite taste. Of all the fisheries that operate in the many corners of the planet, few-if any-have come to obtain the prestige and standard of excellence that the fishing industry of Alaska has earned for itself, not only for the taste and quality of the many items it yields but furthermore for the high scientific (and ecologically sustainable) standards that it has managed to impose on itself, in large part through state legislation on the subject.
