A friend of mine once joked, “I’d become a vegetarian in a heartbeat, if I didn’t have to give up eating meat.” Being a reformed carnivore, I can understand the logic of that remark. As a child, I was routinely admonished to “eat your vegetables”, but those vegetables were usually an accompaniment to some type of meat which defined the meal.

Most of us frequently encounter waiting staff in restaurants. Our experiences will be varied for sure. We might be left gnashing our teeth at the rudeness of someone behind the counter at a fast food outlet or might come away feeling better about our day as a result of a pleasant interaction with the serving staff in an establishment.
