Originally dubbed Cannolo, these great little Sicilian pastries now know as Cannoli where formed when the Arabs still controlled the Sicilian regions of Italy. These delightful little tubes made from fried dough are stuffed with a variety of mixtures today, while the original recipe called for either Ricotta cheese or even Mascarpone. Whatever they are filled with, it is clear that they are a huge hit.

While there was a time in the past where Italy and Greece were less than amicable to each other, this never stopped these to neighboring countries from sharing ideas when it came to food. Their Italian recipes that you know today have had much Greek influence in them, and the same can be said for the Greek recipes that the Mediterranean area is enjoying today.

During Prohibition in the 1920′s homebrewing became greatly popular and illegal. When Prohibition was repealed in 1933, home beer brewing to a odd turn. The constitutional amendment repealing Prohibition allowed the production of wine at home but failed to add beer in its wording keeping homebrewing illegal.
